..."The new spam detection system selected by BT – Content Forensics™ from StreamShield Networks – scans millions of e-mails a day, providing BT with detailed reports on the location and size of spam-related problems originating from the BT network.  Not only does the StreamShield Networks’ solution save time and resources by automatically identifying spam problems, it can prevent valuable bandwidth being wasted on unwanted spam and virus infected traffic. Richard Clayton did a nice study for Demon Internet showing that you can pick up a lot of the problems just by looking at ones own incoming email server logs.

The same study suggested BT were the worst source of virus infections that Demon saw, something that my own experience as a UK based email admin concurs with. So nice to see they are working on improving.

How one can square this with the BT adverts, that make it sound like a walled garden, I'm not sure. But then they aren't a company I do business with willingly, unfortunately they are a monopoly supplier of last mile phone service.
