Working Bird Flu Vaccine - Or Jumping the Gun?

Baxter claims phase 1 and 2 trials of its bird flu (H5N1 influenza) vaccine,  have been successful and also the shot protects against other strains of flu beside producing antibodies for bird flu found in Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Viet Nam.

Whether this is effective if bird flu mutates into a highly contagious form remains to be seen.  Phase 3 trials of this vaccine start next year with results expected near year's end.
