South Korea's armed robots can detect a human over two miles away during the day, and over a mile at night.  And chase the person down and kill them with its machine gun.

These killer robots were made for patroling the border with North Korea.  All for a mere $200,000, the conglomerate (Samsung Techwin Co., Sejin System Co., MediaZen and Sysfo Lab Co)  that made them plans to sell a thousand of them in the first year.

this is an alleged video of the thing in action, no guarantees on accuracy but it looks legit and pretty darn lethal. I bet they could build a BIG one of these as well, the "armageddon abrams"

According to the article, the device will close, demand a passcode, then take one of three actions if the code is false - alarm, rubber bullets, or real bullets.

Yes, I can just see this:

Robot: HALT STATE THE PASSCODE: YOU HAVE THIRTY SECONDS TO COMPLY.
Unfortunate friendly solder: North Korean Solders Are Weenies.
Robot: CODE INCORRECT STATE THE PASSCODE: YOU HAVE TWENTY SECONDS TO COMPLY.
Unfortunate friendly solder: North Korean Solders Are Weenies.
Robot: CODE INCORRECT STATE THE PASSCODE: YOU HAVE TEN SECONDS TO COMPLY.
And so on.

Of course, if this thing gets hacked by somebody with a British sense of humour:

Unfortunate friendly solder: To walk my patrol!

With all of the fabricator plants they have in South Korea, I would hope that they'd have passive long distance RFID with a networked database lookup and fail-safe programming for friend/foe assignments.

 Maybe the whole world should standardize a surrender protocol that all autonomous killer robots must respect (since we've sadly crossed the line into a world with autonomous killing robots).  Like lying face down on the ground or something.

Just wait till such things start replacing police, SWAT and security guards.  Maybe we should work out the plans for flashlight-sized EMP killer robot killer now.
