Google delisted BMW for building one large set of
"doorway" site pages for webcrawlers, designed to boost
rank, and others for human eyeballs. They got caught at it and
got delisted.
Here's the scoop.
After my giggles subsided, this story refreshed a thought, Google IS a power-player world wide. For them to bounce you from their indexes, is cutting you off at the knees online. Hell, maybe even decapitation? Good thing their motto is "don't be evil" ;)
Too bad they've been failing at that recently. I purposely blame the mistake for any software company trying to change the world- they did an IPO and joined the stock market. Stock markets are fundamentally incompatible with research software companies who have a policy of doing no evil; heck, stock markets are incompatible with the uncertainty of the software development cycle in general.
