A sophisticated "feedback" type language training regimen, called Flic, has been developed to assist adults in rapidly learning another language. They are attempting to recreate the ease by which children can pick up multiple languages.

I've read about another, less scientific, program for speedy language learning.

It was invented by someone who went through some of the worst dramas of WW2. His family moved from Poland to Germany to get away from anti-Semitism. There's a book about his adventures, including improbable ones like hiding out _inside_ a concentration camp to avoid being put on a train. But then by definition any account from one of the survivors is improbable.

He was the subject of a book in the early 90's or thereabouts.

And I can't remember enough information about him or his methods to put together a Google search that works! Has anyone heard of this guy? He'd be on topic...

There is a series of audio discs vended by Simon and Schuster with his name. Some years ago Syber-Vision promted them heavily. They work pretty well.

Thank you! That's it exactly.
breaks a language down to its component parts and enables learners to reconstruct the language themselves to form their own sentences,
which should be paradise for nerds.

They promise proficient conversational ability in 3-8 days depending on the instructor.
