The global climate change report set to be released on February
2nd by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is already
quite controversial, including such statements as they under
considered the impact of the "two big
gorillas" of melting ice in Greenland and Antarctica.
"Later this week in Paris, climate scientists will issue a
dire forecast for the planet that warns of slowly rising sea
levels and higher temperatures. But that may be the sugarcoated
version."..more there
For any given assumption about how much CO2, CH4, and particulate matter will be in the atmosphere over the next few decades, there's still a wide range of possibilities consistent with our scientific knowledge, ranging from significant to severe.
It sure looks like the report on sea level forecasts should boil down to "we don't know, further research is needed to explain and predict ice sheet melting rates".
