We the activists of BinaryFreedom  created a coalition to link all of our issues relating to computing freedom at here.

MyIssue.DevalPatrick.com is an online tool to help you participate in shaping the direction of your community and Massachusetts. It is where you can identify and present an issue that matters to you and then organize around it. The Governor keeps track of the efforts of everyone who uses MyIssue.DevalPatrick.com and will often comment on issues generating solid amounts of support.
Regardless, we can all benefit from this resource by discussing the details of issues we want to raise on this list. Due to the 5000 character limit on issue descriptions, the MyIssue Web site actually encourages linking to wiki pages, blogs, and other external
at the moment we created our first issue, were it can be voted for here:

so far we have the minimum required to be a serious issue, now we will like to get 100 votes so Patrick(the Gov) will take us serious.

Patriots' Day

You just barely missed Patriot's Day. Perhaps it is not too late to bask in the afterglow of the holiday.

Last year, some parallels were drawn between the fight Massachusetts is currently undertaking and the fight it was involved in some 232 years ago. That can be played up. Open standards work towards American Ideals: democratic process, free market, innovation, freedom, independence. M$ works against them. Dr. Edgar Villanueva, from Peru, made some very articulate arguments in favor of open source for Peru which largely apply here for open standards, in the US.

Keep in mind at all times, however, that the problem is not so much of open standards vs closed standards as much as it is (open standards + closed standards) vs M$ specifications.

Also, as an opponent, M$ is not so much a technology, but an anti-American political movement dressed as a technology. And though it made it's mark on the world as a marketing company, for quite a while now it is a lobbying machine. You can probably find records of official (but not unofficial) lobbying expenditures for MA as you can with Florida or the US Senate
