Based in Hong Kong, Global Hand is an NGO acting as a broker matching donations and needs to support NGO’s in their fight against poverty and disasters. It also provides branded web sites for the United Nations Joint Logistics Center (UNJLC), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Rotary International.

Global Hand has now decided to switch to Open Source and choosed to base his services on the Plone and Zope solutions.

This article investigates Global Hand experience and criteria to select these technologies. A real life situation where Open Source is not a "low cost solution" but well an "high quality" solution and sometimes the best solution available on the market.
