Dan Budiac bid $2600 for the ultimate computer in his mind, a 1984 Apple IIc, in box that was never opened.  Then he horrified some collectors by opening the box to use it.   "Ultimately, I decided that I didn't buy it as a financial investment. I bought it so I could stay up until 4 o'clock in the morning playing Oregon Trail.......I wish more [modern] applications would offer a minimalist, heads-down, nose-to-the-grindstone mode"

Can someone please explain emulation to this guy?

It's his box, her can do what he wants, but for Oregon Trail, near-perfect emulation of the Apple][ exists...

There is that.  Also, I was able to find an Apple IIc ( and a bunch of other older machines ) locally and working too.

There was no need to buy a boxed item and open it.

Ah, but you can't replicate the crappy user experience, the monitors are too good these days.  Even PC Speakers are much better.
