This reminded me of the story of Lake Peigneur in Louisianna. A crew drilling for oil in the middle of the lake poked through a salt mine and the whole lake drained. It's a damn interesting story:

- For some reason I seemed to have missed that one or just forgotten about it, but ya, bigtime damn interesting. I often wondered why all the salt mines under Detroit don't fill up with water from Lake St. Clair...bound to happen sooner or later.

Yeah, I've seen some TV shows of the 'engineering disaster' variety that featured that. Totally bizarre sight.
But I'll raise you the Indonesian mud vulcano believed to have been triggered by drilling.
