Researchers want to use harvested embryonic stem cells for
research. Although that isn't news,
using donated cells from people who have passed away up to 30
years ago is. In the UK, they need permission from the
donors, something hard to do if the donor is deceased. At issue
are people who donated their bodies to science long ago, and now
the researchers want an exception to the laws to actually do some
research as the donors intended.
.."Many laboratories have banks of stored tissue which
act as DNA libraries that can play a vital role in finding cures
for serious disorders such as diabetes and motor neurone
disease."
